Family Events: Hartington 2005
Manchester Reform Synagogue Family Weekend Hartington Hall is one of my favourite times of year. It’s a time when everyone just works together and doesn’t worry about anything. The best thing is that our parents leave us to our own devices (within certain limits), which is great for us, and the parents don’t seem to mind either. No one is left out; the younger ones who are new to Hartington always seem to make friends with at least one other person, and by the end of the first day, they already seem to know their way around and aren’t afraid about any part of the experience. Another great thing about Hartington is there is always something to do. There is a great games room, which always has somebody from Cheder inside, and Mr Arkwright never fails in finding something to keep us entertained. This year members from the bar/bat mitzvah class and the post bar/bat mitzvah class put on a Shakespeare play about a Jewish money lender, which was my favourite part, next to playing football of course. There are naturally a few tantrums, but they don’t last long and everybody is willing to forgive and forget.
